 Yvonne´s coaching-team from left:
Mag. Mario Huys, Yvonne, Thomas J. Vonach, Mark Allen

Mag. Mario Huys is a person that keeps himself more in the background that he needs to. Definetly he is one of the most succesfull coaches in Triathlon. Born in Belgium Mario Huys was a professional athlete himself for over 20 years. He once did hold the world-record over the double-iron-distance triathlon and is a 60 time Belgium Champion in various disciplines such as rowing for example.
In the past Mario coached Ironman-world-record holder Luc van Lierde/Bel, build up Kate Allen/Aut to a world-class athlete succeding in winning Ironmans and later become the Olympic triathlon champion in Athens ´04.
Since 2007 Mario is the head-coach of Yvonne´s team after working with Thomas Vonach since 2003. The partnership with Yvonne was an immediate success when Yvonne finished with a 8:51:55 on debut in Roth/Ger, on her first Ironman-distance.
In only three years the list of success grew quickly with an Ironman-distance world record, a runner-up-finish on Hawaii and numerous victories on Ironman/Ironman-distances and Ironman 70.3s, often with course-records. Mario lives in Austria and coaches various athletes on different levels through his coaching-platform: mariohuys.com

Mark Allen Everybody in triathlon knows Mark as one of the most successful athletes of all time and as a six time-winner of the legendary Ironman Hawaii. Since Mark retired from professional racing he grew into his role as an author, speaker and is the co-founder of one of the most successfull coaching-platforms in the sport:
markallenonline.com
Fortunately for us Mark was ready to be a consultant and contribute his knowledge and experience. He guides the coaching team through the year giving crucial input for the mental preparation and training. But he
does not only turn in his knowledge about smart training, but also is guiding Yvonne to find the perfect balance of a high level in fitness and a fit soul as the perfect combination to compete on the highest possible level.

Thomas J. Vonach/ AUT is a successful Triathlete, that concentrates his racing mainly on the IRONMAN-distance and XTerra. Born and raised in Austria he found his way to sport very early with the age of two: in skiing and athletics. Thomas succeeded in other disciplines like Tennis, Volleyball, Water-skiing and Gymnastics, collecting victories, before he found his way to Triathlon. After attending the Sport-Gymnasium in Dornbirn/Austria his life was threatened by a severe form of the Anorexia Nervosa (Magersucht). From the age of 18 on Thomas had to spend three years in different hospitals and therapies, there was not too much hope he would survive this difficult illness (with a weight of 36kg and a height of 172cm). Three times he ended up in intensive care. The last visit there was his “turn-around-point”, he could get himself out of the “dead-end-street”.  thomas3
In 1997 he started his career as a multi-sport athlete, in Duathlon, raced Powermans and other competitions in different countries. 1999 he did his first long course in Zofingen, in the same year he jumped to Triathlon and raced in IRONMAN Florida. Since then Thomas has stepped up to the podium many times. After 20 IRONMAN-races, his palmares show 7 IRONMAN HAWAII-Finishes with 6 of them in the TOP100 Overall in the most important Triathlon on the Globe. His personal best is a 9:07 hours at one of the hardest races in the series, Ironman Malaysia. In 2006 Thomas won the AMATEURS HAWAIIAN DOUBLE, the combined result of the XTERRA WC MAUI and the IRONMAN WC HAWAII after being the runner up three times in the years before, he owns four Amateur World Championship Podiums in XTERRA WC MAUI. Thomas is the Amateur-course-record-holder of IRONMAN JAPAN and IRONMAN MALAYSIA. Thomas is the founder and manager of the successful ENDURANCE TEAM AUSTRIA and owns his own management and coaching-company: ENDURANCE TEAM which is taking care of Yvonne.

In 2007 Thomas and Yvonne met on the island of Lanzarote. The fateful meeting of the two dedicated athletes lead into a great training-camp and into a even bigger love. Back home both knew that there was a path before them they had to go hand in hand. The racing- experience of Thomas gives Yvonne a background of knowledge for the long-course, that you just can have after years of racing. Thomas is well known in between the athletes as the one who thinks even about the smallest details.

Since 2008 Thomas and his company “ENDURANCE TEAM – management I coachin I consulting” takes care of the management and PR of Yvonne.
Thomas contributes his experience and knowledge to Yvonne´s goals and dreams and helps her to reach the start and finish healthy and fit.

Jan Prinzhausen: the nutritionist from Jena/gGer, works very succesfully with athletes in different disciplines. The author of several books, which are mainly dealing with nutrition for performance in sports and top-sports. How successful the nutrition strategy of Jan Prinzhausen and the practiable results are we can see in the performances of Yvonne van Vlerken and Thomas J. Vonach. Yvonne started working with this method shortly before Challenge Roth ´07 with the best ever rookie-performance in an „ironman-distance“-Triathlon. 2008 Yvonne broke the 14 year  old world record by Paula Newby- Fraser in 8:45:48, also in Roth/Ger. She was 4kg lighter and kept the same power she already had before on the bike. Thomas J. Vonach posted 4 Top10-results at Ironman Races and finished the Ironman Hawaii 6times in the Top 100. The perfect tuning of the right supplements and loading strategies for race-week were developed together with Yvonne and Thomas over years.

Dr. Shelley Overbeek
Shelley is my lung-physian. She is very important to me as I am suffering from severe lung-asthma and already had to get over 4 pneumonias in the last 6 years. Thanks to her I´m still capable of following my dreams and improve my performance nearly as good as I could do if my lungs were in full health. She gives me advice for the races and recommendations how to handle the different climates and air-quality. Shelley is the official MD for all the Dutch athletes that go to the Olympics. She knows everything about the functions and problems of lungs in sports and therefore is one of the greatest specialists we have for that in the Netherlands.
As an athlete you want to perform on your best, with help from people like Shelley you know your having the best support that you can have. Thanks Shelley!!
